學英文迎新年－洋碩美語讓你英文「雞」霸昏！

新的一年即將到來，你知道該怎麼用英文介紹一年當中最熱鬧的農曆春節嗎？今天就是除夕夜了，在等待晚上年夜飯的到來前，先來學習新年用語該如何用英文表示吧！

☻年節的由來：

According to legends, the beginning of Chinese New Year started with a mythical beast which called Nian. Nian would come on the first day of New Year to eat livestock and crops, even children. To protect themselves, the villagers would put food in front of their doors at the beginning of every year. It was believed that after Nian ate the food they prepared, it wouldn’t attack people and livestock.
傳說中國新年起源於一種叫「年」的怪獸，年獸通常在在新年第一天出沒，而且會吃掉牲畜、作物，甚至是小孩子，村民們為了自保，會在新年時在門前放食物，祈求年獸在吃完食物後不會攻擊人民和牲畜。

One day a villager got advices from the god, knowing how to beat the beast. He prepared the red paper and firecrackers in front his house,told the villagers to do so. The villagers then understood that Nian was afraid of the color red and the voice of firecrackers. When the New Year was about to come, the villagers hang red lanterns and red spring couplet on windows and doors. People also used firecrackers to scare Nian away. From then on, Nian never came to the village again.
有天一位村民收到了神明的指示教導他如何擊敗年獸，他準備了紅紙還有鞭炮並叫村民如法炮製，大家才了解到原來年獸雖兇猛，但會害怕紅色和鞭炮的巨響。當年獸來襲時，村民們家家戶戶掛起紅燈籠，並在門口和窗上貼紅春聯，同時放炮竹鞭炮，終於順利把年獸嚇跑，從此之後，年獸就不曾出現過了。

☻過年的習俗：

It is traditional for every family to clean the house up before the Chinese New Year, in order to sweep away any bad luck and to make way for incoming good luck.
華人家庭會習慣在春節前大掃除，將家裡徹底打掃乾淨，代表著把過去的厄運去除，迎來新的好運。
During Chinese New Year, the windows and doors will be decorated with red paper and couplets with popular themes of “good fortune", “happiness", “safe”, “wealth", and “longevity."
在過年時會在窗上和門上貼上紅紙和對聯，上面寫著常見的好運、快樂、平安、財富和長壽等吉祥話。
The Chinese New Year’s Eve is an important day for Chinese families to get together for the annual reunion dinner.
除夕夜對華人家庭來說是非常重要的一晚，在這天全家人會團聚一起吃一年一度的團圓飯。
Other activities likes lighting firecrackers and the children and the elder will get money in red paper envelopes, which means good luck for a whole new year.
還有其他新春活動像是放鞭炮，還有會發紅包給小孩和長輩希望新的一年能招來好運一切平安。
